Open House : 2013

In concert with the Chicago Architecture Foundation's
the Palette and Chisel's open house
is becoming an annual event.

It's a good opportunity to invite in the  neighborhood

Leslie Outten

.. and it's a good excuse to show off
some of our best artists.

Pam Gibson

Many of our plein air painters
have depicted the famous Bean in Millennium Park,
but so far, this one is my favorite.

Phyllis Brodny

Who knew that frozen Lake Michigan could be so picturesque?.

Don Yang

Ellen Mumford

Quite an accomplished painter,
and completely new to me.

I think she's from Dixon,
so she has a visitor's appreciation
of big city elegance.

Gilbert Ghez

This whimsical sketch is 100% Gil.

Liz Wall

Lothar W. Speer

Another artist who is completely new to me.

He has quite a resume.

He shares a German art-school background
with many of the P&C's earliest members.

He seems to specialize in wrinkly old faces
(as well as facades),
so I hope he puts some of his portraits
into upcoming shows.

Demos were conducted
in both the painting and sculpture studios.

Bo Zhang -- stepping back for better look.

Mary wields a brush
like a master swordsman.

Roger Akers

That's Misha with a cup (of vodka?)
and Del reflected in the mirror.
