Don Llanuza

Don Llanuza, P&C President 1980-1981, died last week --- and this post -- as it
gathers more information -- will hopefully pay tribute to him.

(If any readers own Schmid's "Alla Prima" -- it's said to contain Don's portrait)

Yes, Don was proud that Richard included his portrait in the book. Don made many improvements to the P&C, some temporary, some permanent, all with an infectious enthusiasm and good will. He built a very effective board and had Joe Vangsness put standard accounting practices into effect so that the Academy could be sustainably viable and also qualify for grants. Don would be very proud of the direction the Academy is taking, and the quality of work on its walls.

I have Richard book and yes Dons portrait is in the book. My book was signed by Richard including the portrait. Don told everyone about the P & C and I have several large paintings of Sedona that he painted since living in Arizona. If you able to put on a show of some of Don;s paintings I would be happy to bring some of the paintings out to you. Sincerely, Rose Llanuza

Dear Kathleen : thankyou for your very informative comments !

Dear Rose: Please accept our condolences.

(and we'd love to have some pictures of Don's paintings to post here --- so if you know anyone with a digital camera -- it's time to put them to work !)
