Greetings from Chicago

Just got this in the email,
and it turns out
that Samuel Byer (1882-1966)
was a member of the Palette and Chisel
in the 1930's.

Like many members,
past and present,
he was born in central Europe.

He illustrated
his wife's book on that topic,
"Transplanted People"
which appears to be
of greatest interest
to collectors of Judaica.

He was included
in the A.I.C.'s
Chicago Vicinity Show
of 1948.

Here's the only other painting
of his that I could find on the internet.
