Main Gallery, Date Unknown
I recently found this photo of the P&C's main gallery, date unknown--although one might be able to judge the date from the fact that Otto Hake is standing in front of the fireplace and Leo Marzolo appears to be sitting on the arm of the chair. This has to be a watercolor show, judging by the paintings on the wall.
Notice also that there seems to be construction going on--the exposed circuit boxes in the walls--and that there used to be a bay on the north side of the gallery wall. In other old photos that I have seen, there appears to have been an entrance on that side of the building. (One can see today where some old windows were bricked up at one time.) I like the old light fixtures as well.
But look at the way the crowd is dressed--how the world has changed.

The light fixtures are nice -- but not many of the paintings are well lit.
And isn't that Tor standing with his elbow on the fireplace ?
I think I can make out some other familiar faces, too, clustered around the appetizers and the drinks, shovelling in the free grub.
The lighting is terrible, but the light fixtures are cool.
This photo is from 1935.
